- What is your position at Core-Backbone?
As a Network Engineer, I look after our network together with my colleagues. The range of tasks is relatively broad and includes planning expansions, optimising the network, operational activities and implementing customer projects.
What motivates you in your job?
My motivation lies in my passion for networks. I enjoy solving complex problems and technical challenges.- What is special about your job? What do you like about your duties?
It is very varied and every day offers new challenges and tasks. Due to the constant development of network technology, there is always something new to learn and explore.
- How did you enter CBB?
During my studies, I volunteered to look after the network in my former hall of residence. At that point, it was clear to me that I also wanted to work in the industry and I applied to Core-Backbone as a working student. I have been working full-time since completing my Master’s degree.
- What personality traits should you have as an network engineer?
When problems or failures occur, it is important to keep a cool head. Analytical thinking and communication skills are also essential.
Would you recommend this professional path to others? Why?
Definitely! The industry is diverse and constantly evolving. If someone wants to become like you, what kind of background is needed for this career?
In my opinion, the type of training is of secondary significance. What is more important is to have fascination, motivation and willingness for continuous further training.- What are your professional goals?
I would like to further expand and deepen my knowledge and skills.
- What has been the biggest challenge you have faced at CBB so far?
My biggest personal challenge so far has been standing in front of a large audience of experts as a speaker. I am grateful that I was able to gain my first experience as a speaker and represent Core-Backbone at events such as the DENOG Meetup in Nuremberg or the HUNOG in Budapest.
- How would you rate the work-life balance at CBB?
Of course, there are days when we work a lot and spend a long time travelling. For example, when major remodelling work is due at sites. However, this is not an everyday occurrence and any overtime is quickly cancelled out by days off.
- What do you like to do after work?
I also enjoy working with networks or Linux servers in my private life. Apart from that I also enjoy being out and about or doing things with friends.
What do you appreciate about CBB?
I particularly appreciate the good team spirit among colleagues, which is supported by flat hierarchies and company events. Core-Backbone also offers room for personal growth and the opportunity for professional development.
- What is your position at Core-Backbone?
We would like to thank Alexander for his 2 years at Core-Backbone and wish for ourselves many more great years spent together.
Due to the increasing growth, we are happy to hire more people motivated just like our Alexander.
